Put the ‘fun’ into fundraising for a fantastic cause!
Every day, people ask us what they can do to help Syria. We think fundraising is best: not only does it raise essential money for aid, but it increases awareness of the humanitarian crisis in Syria, encourages others to fundraise as well, and brings hope to people in Syria by showing them that they are not forgotten.
There are many ways to fundraise for Hand in Hand for Syria. How about organising a charity auction, fasting for a month, or running a marathon? Whatever you decide, make sure it’s challenging but also lots of fun!
Looking for fundraising ideas?
We love hearing about all the really creative ideas which our supporters come up with, so feel free to think of something unusual which will attract interest and attention. However, if you’re looking for a tried-and-tested solution, check out the links below :
Why not get together with local community groups to hold a joint event, or perhaps competing with a friend to see who can raise the most money? The possibilities are endless!
Let us help you with publicity!
If you let us know what you’re doing, we can publicise your fundraising activities on our Facebook page or Twitter feed, and we can add it to the Events calendar on this website — it could help you to raise more money!
Need some fundraising advice?
Need some resources?
We’ve put together a special ‘Fundraisers pack’ to help you with organising your fundraising event. We are also able to provide you with additional resources such as posters, leaflets etc. We can issue you a temporary ‘Fundraisers ID’ card so that the public can rest assured that you are donating to a credible charity.
To enquire about fundraising resources please email us details of your event to firstname.lastname@example.org
Let your local media know!
Do let the local papers know about your event, beforehand for publicity and afterwards to let them know what happened and how much you raised. A good photo will significantly boost the likelihood of getting some coverage! You can also contact your local BBC and independent radio stations, and don’t forget any local ‘what’s on’ listings online, if relevant.
How to send us what you raised
If you’re getting sponsored offline, print out our sponsorship form. Or make it quick and easy for people to give online by creating your own page in our section at JustGiving (this way, their Gift Aid is collected automatically). If you need to pay the money over to us, treat it like a donation – you can donate by PayPal, bank transfer, over the counter or by cheque. Please note that if you’re paying in donations on behalf of a group of people, we can only claim Gift Aid if you send us a Gift Aid form (it’s quite simple!) signed by each tax-paying donor. Just use the sponsorship form above to collect their details and signatures, and then post it in to us.
